From 17 November 2025 to 19 November 2025, Prof. Ing. Owen Casha attended ICECS 2025, the 32nd IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, which was held in Marrakech, Morocco. The conference was organised at the Kenzi Rose Garden Hotel. ICECS is an international conference dedicated to circuits and systems, held annually in Region 8 (EU, Africa, and the Middle East). Prof. Inġ. Owen Casha, from the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, presented a paper titled "An Analytical Approach for Designing Passive Matching Networks".
This paper proposed an analytical approach for designing three-component T-section or π-section passive matching networks by using a direct and generic impedance or admittance network analysis. This approach is proposed as an alternative technique for designing such networks, whic can be achieved through either a graphical approach using an impedance-admittance Smith chart, a back-to-back L-section-based matching network design, or a phase-shift-based approach. The proposed approach provides all possible T-section or π-section passive matching network configurations and their respective component values with high accuracy by analytically solving three equations, as demonstrated by the implemented algorithm.
Prof. Inġ. Casha also chaired one of the sessions held on 19 November 2025 titled "Signal Processing, Image and Video".
