On 11 December 2025, Prof. Colin Calleja, Prof. Josephine Deguara, and Dr Jonathan Borg, Faculty of Education at the University of Malta participated in the 2nd Scientific Seminar organised by the University of Opole in Poland. This online seminar brought together directors, academics, researchers, educators and students from universities in Poland, Ukraine and Malta to share their insights and develop innovative strategies for strengthening education in a modern, interdisciplinary and collaborative context. Prof. Colin Calleja presented the educational programmes offered by the University of Malta, with a focus on inclusive education and international cooperation.
Prof. Josephine Deguara delivered “Valuing Drawing as a Portal to Children’s Worlds,” showing how children’s drawings express identity, meaning, and emotion, and why this creative form is important in early childhood education. Dr Jonathan Borg presented “The Importance of Including Students with Disabilities in General Education Settings,” emphasising inclusive practice, equal access, and the value of including all learners in mainstream classrooms. Their participation supported the seminar’s wider discussion on innovation, inclusion, and child-centred learning.
