On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2025, which falls on 5 October, the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta proudly joins the global community in celebrating the theme: “Inspiring the Next Generation of Learners.”
This theme reminds us that teachers are much more than transmitters of knowledge. They are mentors, guides, and role models who nurture curiosity, cultivate values, and open doors to opportunities that shape both individuals and society.
In Malta, teachers hold a vital role. They are called not only to pass on subject knowledge but also to support children and young people growing up in a society that is increasingly diverse, multilingual, and interconnected.
Whether in small village schools or larger colleges, teachers face the daily challenge and privilege of shaping students’ sense of belonging, encouraging them to value their heritage, and preparing them to engage positively in a rapidly changing world.
The Faculty of Education recognises this reality. Through our work in teacher education, research, and collaboration with schools, we observe how Maltese educators demonstrate resilience and creativity in responding to the needs of their learners.
From guiding pupils with learning difficulties, to supporting migrant children, to embracing new technologies, our teachers inspire by adapting with care and vision.
This year’s theme also invites us to look beyond the classroom and consider how we are shaping the Malta of tomorrow. Inspiring the next generation means fostering critical thinkers, empathetic citizens, and lifelong learners. It means creating inclusive learning environments where every child, whether Maltese or a newcomer, thriving or struggling, can feel valued and capable of achieving success.
On World Teachers’ Day 2025, the Faculty of Education expresses its gratitude to all teachers in Malta who, through their daily efforts, inspire hope and possibility. Your work not only impacts your students, but also their families, communities, and the nation as a whole.
We remain committed to walking alongside you in this noble vocation, supporting your growth, and strengthening the teaching profession. Together, we can continue to inspire the next generation of learners because in every learner lies the promise of tomorrow.
Happy World Teachers’ Day!
