Celebrating Diversity Month this May!

This May, the University of Malta is proud to join the European Commission in celebrating the . This annual initiative reflects a long-term commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive workplaces and societies across Europe. To mark the occasion, the Equity Office is launching an awareness campaign dedicated to exploring the different facets of diversity within our community.

The heart of this campaign is a collection of first-hand testimonials from individuals across various areas and with different expertise who have collaborated with the Equity Office to share their stories.

Every Monday throughout May, you will receive a Weekly Diversity Mailshot that highlights a specific dimension of diversity through the lens of those who have decided to share their journey:

• Week 1: Cultural and ethnic diversity
• Week 2: Gender diversity and gender identity
• Week 3: Disability and neurodiversity / Different Abilities
• Week 4: Generational diversity and personal experiences

This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the University’s Equity Committee and the Marketing, Communication & Alumni Office.

By sharing these stories, we aim to foster an environment where everyone is valued and appreciated for who they are, allowing every member of our community to fully employ their diverse perspectives are valued and included into the work environment

Keep an eye on your inbox on Monday 4 May for our first edition!

In addition, in collaboration with the UM Library, the Equity Office will also introduce a Fidget Tool Initiative as part of the Feel Good Campaign 2026. This aims to support students during their studies by providing simple tools that can help with focus, stress, and different ways of learning.

The fidget tools will be available at all UM Library spaces. Please feel free to use them and return them after use so that others can benefit as well.

These initiatives aim to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone at the University.
