From Planning the Ceremony to Walking the Stage: UM Staff Mark a Special March Graduation

(Pictured above are members of the Office of the Registrar together with other UM staff members who graduated this March)

As the March 2026 graduation ceremonies unfolded, several University of Malta staff members were awarded postgraduate degrees.

Ceremony 15, held on Wednesday 11 March, proved to be a particularly special occasion for a number of team members from the Office of the Registrar, who celebrated their own academic milestone from a different perspective.

Usually working behind the scenes to ensure graduation ceremonies run smoothly, these colleagues experienced the event in a new way this time, stepping into the spotlight to celebrate the completion of their own Master’s and Ph.D. studies.

In the weeks and days leading up to graduation, staff from the Office of the Registrar coordinate an intricate process that involves confirming graduate lists, preparing certificates, organising seating arrangements, coordinating academic processions, and ensuring that every name is pronounced correctly as graduates cross the stage.

On the day itself, they guide graduates through registration, help them with their academic dress, manage the order of the procession, and coordinate closely with faculty members, ushers, and technical teams. From timing the ceremony to the minute to making last-minute adjustments when needed, their role is to ensure that the event unfolds seamlessly so that graduates can enjoy their moment.

For those staff members who graduated this March, the experience carried an extra layer of meaning.

Congratulations to all, and thank you for your hard work!
