Professor Carmel Borg leads workshop at Nottingham Trent University

Prof. Carmel Borg recently led a workshop at Nottingham Trent University on humility and compassion as critical pedagogical practices.

The session brought together students and academics from universities across Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Finland, and Lithuania.

Embedded within the IPCN BIP programme, the workshop positioned compassion and humility, not as abstract ideals, but as essential dispositions.

It emphasised compassion as an active, attentive engagement with others’ experiences, voices, and ways of knowing, alongside humility as an openness to being challenged, unsettled, and transformed through encounter.

This workshop marks the first in a series that will see Prof. Borg travel across Europe, engaging with diverse academic communities on critical pedagogy, social justice education, and transformative educational practices.
