Professor Peter Mayo, from the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education at our university, has been selected to receive an Honorary Doctorate from the , in recognition of his outstanding and sustained contribution to the field of Adult Education.
The decision was taken unanimously by the General Assembly of the School of Humanities, reflecting Professor Mayo’s international standing and the significant impact of his scholarly work on adult learning, critical pedagogy, and education for social justice.
The conferral ceremony is provisionally scheduled for September 2026.
“This is a well-deserved achievement, and I would like to warmly congratulate Professor Mayo on this recognition. His work has had a lasting impact on Adult Education, and this honour also highlights the strength and visibility of our Faculty as a key contributor to the field at both national and international levels”, said Prof. Colin Calleja, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta.
