Senior Lecturer contributes to outcomes of EU research project

Dr Sarah Cuschieri, Senior Lecturer within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta and an epidemiologist specialising in chronic diseases, particularly diabetes and obesity, has been invited to serve as a Scientific Advisor within the Horizon Europe-funded project DigiCare4You.

In this capacity, Dr Cuschieri recently participated in the Capacity Building and Recommendations Workshop held in Brussels, Belgium. The event brought together consortium partners, members of the International Stakeholder Advisory Board, and international experts to review the progress and outcomes of the project.

The workshop marked the final in-person dissemination event following more than five years of research and collaboration. Participants were presented with a comprehensive overview of the project, key learnings, and the final results from the two-year intervention phase.

Importantly, the workshop also facilitated discussions on future directions, focusing on how the DigiCare4You solution can be scaled up and adapted to new national contexts beyond the four pilot countries. These discussions are central to ensuring the sustainability and broader impact of the project’s outcomes.

Dr Cuschieri’s role as Scientific Advisor contributes to shaping the project’s strategic direction and its roadmap for scale-up, further strengthening the University of Malta’s engagement in international research collaborations in public health and digital health innovation.
