UM academic honoured internationally

Prof. Louis F. Cassar of the Institute of Earth Systems was recently elected Fellow of the (FLS) of London in recognition of his work in biodiversity conservation and island biogeography.

The prestigious Fellowship, a mark of excellence, underscores his lifelong dedication to the advancement of natural history and biological research.

Professor Cassar has contributed significantly to the understanding of the biogeography of the circum-Sicilian island complex, the Maghreb and the Mediterranean per se through an extensive body of work focusing on specific biomarkers within the orders Orthoptera and Lepidoptera.
