A doctoral student and researcher at the University of Malta, Jonathan Farrugia, will be representing Malta at the 2026 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, set to take place in Germany from 28 June until 3 July.
The meeting will focus on interdisciplinary research, with around 600 scientists specialising in several areas like physics, chemistry and medicine, from across the world, expected to participate, share ideas, learn from each other and work together.
Farrugia works in applied electromagnetism within Biophysics. He is in the final stages of his PhD in Physics.
He worked on PerDeMon (Personalised Decompression Monitor), a UM-led project focused on investigating the potential of a non-invasive dissolved Nitrogen biosensor.
He also is a seasonal journal paper reviewer for the .
In 2022, he received the Young Scientist Award, a prestigious award presented to promising scientists, for a short paper he wrote about using Bruggemann Mixture Equations to come up with the mimicking solution from a theoretical standpoint.
