Dr. Adrienne Grech is a lecturer within the Department of Nursing, at the University of Malta. Her career spans both academia and clinical practice, with a particular focus on nursing ethics, philosophy and online education. Dr Adrienne Grech holds a PhD in Nursing, with her doctoral research, titled "The Ethical Development of Undergraduate Nursing Students: A Longitudinal Mixed-Methods Study," which explored the moral development of nursing students and their understanding of ethics in professional practice and education. This research has contributed significantly to the field of nursing ethics in Malta and internationally, providing valuable insights into how ethical competencies are cultivated throughout a student's educational journey.
In her academic role at the University of Malta, Dr. Grech is responsible for the coordination of the B.Sc. (Hons.) in Nursing, research and supervision or undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. She is particularly passionate about the integration of online, simulation-based learning and innovative pedagogies for non-technical skills. Dr. Grech's contributions to nursing education are reflected in her involvement in international research collaborations, including her participation in EthCo Erasmus+ project focused on enhancing ethical safety in healthcare. During recent years, she has also participated in the coordination of online study units within the B.Sc.(Hons) Health Sciences and the B.Sc. (Hons.) Elderly Care and clinical skills study-units within the B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing. She is also a member of the International Philosophy of Nursing Society and the International Collaboration of Orthopaedic Nursing.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Grech has experience working as a senior staff nurse, clinical mentor and clinical supervisor in orthopaedic and trauma settings.
