Prof. Marc Kosciejew is an Associate Professor in the Department of Library, 福利在线免费, and Archive Sciences at the University of Malta.
While situated within the Library and 福利在线免费 Science (LIS) field, his research background and interests are interdisciplinary, covering and intersecting with cultural heritage, political science, policy studies, and history. The author of over one-hundred academic articles, books reviews, and newspaper articles, his peer-reviewed research articles have appeared in leading scholarly journals including the Journal of Documentation, The Library Quarterly, European Journal of Cultural Studies, International Journal of Heritage Studies, Heritage & Society, Social History of Medicine, Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, Media History, and Performance Philosophy. His many book reviews have appeared in diverse scholarly journals such as Journal of the Association for 福利在线免费 Science and Technology, Cultural Politics, Journal of Cultural Geography, Technology and Culture, Journal of Cultural Management and Cultural Policy, Journal of Visual Culture, The Historic Environment, Memory Studies, Language and Society, Journal of Education Policy, Journal of Applied Social Science, Publishing Research Quarterly, Nordic Journal of Human Rights, and Ethnic and Racial Studies.
Prof. Kosciejew has conducted research worldwide including in Europe, North America, Africa, and pioneering research in Asia on North Korean libraries. He conducted original, first-hand research in North Korea in 2007 on the country’s library system. This research was published in 2009 as a special two-part series in Feliciter, the journal of the previous Canadian Library Association, representing some of the first English-language publications on this subject.
Prof. Kosciejew has lectured worldwide in Belarus, Canada, Croatia, Malta, and the United Kingdom. He has also presented at diverse conferences at various universities and events in Europe, North America, and Asia, such as at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), National Archives of Sweden, Malta Book Festival, UNESCO headquarters in Paris, and Tate Modern.
Prof. Kosciejew was appointed by Malta’s Minister for Education and Employment as Chairperson of the Malta Libraries Council for 2016-2017, a government-appointed council stipulated in the Malta Libraries Act 2011, to help provide advice on libraries for/within the library sector.
