Prof. Michael Briguglio is Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, University of Malta.
He is Science Communication Coordinator and Core Group Member of the EU COST Action Rethinking the Blue Economy: Socio-Ecological Impacts and Opportunities (RethinkBlue), and a Lead Author for the forthcoming Second Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR2) by the Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Change (MedECC).
Briguglio serves as Associate Editor of the International Social Science Journal (Wiley), sits on the Editorial Board of SAGE Open Sociology, and is Review Editor in Urban Ecology (Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution). He also coordinates the MA in Social Impact Assessment at the University of Malta, is a founding member of the Malta Sociological Association, convenes the Faculty of Arts Works in Progress Seminar Series, and hosts discussion programmes on Campus 103.7. In addition, he is an opinion columnist for The Malta Independent.
Outside academia, Briguglio is a rock drummer and a former local councillor, politician, and activist.
