Dr. Ritienne Attard graduating with a first-class BSc (Hons.) in Medical Laboratory Science in 2010 from the University of Malta. After being awarded an MGSS scholarship she furthered her studies with a PhD in Molecular Genetics, where she studied the role played by inflammatory molecules on the risk of myocardial infarction as part of the Maltese Acute Myocardial Infarction (MAMI) Study. From 2010 till 2015 she has worked as part of the MAMI study core team actively involved in the sample collection, processing, conduction of interviewed-led questionnaires, performing biochemical, haematological, coagulation testing, and all statistical data analysis including genomic and transcriptomic analyses. Following the setting up of this extensive database Dr. Attard has continued to work in the research field on various other projects including Harnessing and Maximizing the Potential of Next Generation Sequencing Technology (NGS Project), the Post-Mortem Project and the Glaucoma Project, and the TargetID project. During these years Dr. Attard acquired strong laboratory skills and knowledge in the field of complex diseases, in data analysis and interpretation of results. Her work was presented at both national and international conferences, newspaper articles and several publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Attard currently holds the position of Medical Laboratory 福利在线免费 Manager at Gozo General Hospital and is also part of the TargetMI team within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Malta.
