Course Overview

This study-unit explores the multifaceted dimensions of surnames and toponyms, beginning with the foundational terminology, classifications, and research methods used in surname studies, particularly in the Maltese context. This micro-credential will take place on Thursdays between 17:00 and 19:00.

Course Overview

Latin for Research' equips students with the basic skills and knowledge needed to read, understand, and translate documents written in Classical, Medieval, and Neo-Latin (e.g., notarial and ecclesiastical documents, as well as Latin literature).  This micro-credential will take place on Tuesdays between 17:00 and 19:00.

Assessment: The assessment of this course is divided into two parts. The first part (60%) is a case-study in which the student transcribes and translates simple parts of a notarial or ecclesiastical document. The second part is exam (40%) is based on a comprehension test of a transcribed notarial document.
