Abstract: This dissertation which deals about the prospects of potato exportation in Malta, starts with a historic overview of the introduction of this activity in the country some one hundred twenty five years ago and also the serious problems encountered during the Second World War when this activity had to stop. The exportation of potatoes was and still is a major and very important economic activity for Malta. It is well known that the Maltese potatoes enjoy a good name and are well known for their top quality. However, due to the fact that competitivity, especially by Mediterranean countries is arising, it is very important for the Maltese crop to remain of high quality. A high quality product is a result of good cultivation. Malta have some advantages as regards to the cultivation of potatoes especially a typical climate.
