Cost comparison of Cucurbitaceae productions in Maltese Islands

Abstract

This study of Cost comparison of Cucurbitaceae production in the Maltese islands form part of my present study and is one of the requirements for the completion of the course for the Diploma in Agriculture. The subject has been analysed from various aspects. The material cost, labour cost and other expenses for each production have been studied and evaluated. A comparison of cost between each production was made and the output for each crop estimated. The energy used during cultivation was studied and costing for the various forms of energy used, was made. The subsidies for each crop through the SMPPMA scheme were also calculated to have the whole spectrum of income for the farmers. The mm of this study was to give an objective picture of the situation of agriculture production in the Maltese Islands. The income farmers earn through their hard work and the production costs that are hindering their income. This study could be of guidelines to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures for a more profitable agriculture industry.
