| Abstract: | In this essay an attempt was formulated to acknowledge the vast benefits that the lavender plant has provided for various generations and how its usage developed throughout the years. A brief look at the history of the lavender plant will illustrate that this herbal plant has been one of the main natural remedies employed for centuries. It was, and still is used, for various other benefits, to the profit of multiple consumers worldwide. A brief look will be dedicated at how this plant can be propagated and how undemanding its cultivation is. The plant in fact is very popular with professional farmers in Europe and in other countries. Private individuals easily manage to grow lavender in their own private gardens. Currently lavender is being used for cosmetics, cooking, landscaping and aromatherapy. The various usages will be individually discussed while examples of recipes and processing methods in the use of lavender will be given. Figures and pictures will help to illustrate the techniques used. Finally, to conclude this essay some recommendations will be inserted in a humble attempt to encourage the maximum utilization of this blessed plant in the hope that local farmers and consumers will acknowledge its benefits. |
