| Abstract: | This research sets out to understand the perception of Internet cookies by the Maltese Generation Z (Gen Z) population and which design factors are considered when designing an Internet cookie interface. Viable candidates were asked to participate in a focus group and one-to-one semi-structured interviews, where they shared their opinions and knowledge about Internet cookies and design. One focus group was conducted with respondents from the Maltese Gen Z population alongside two interviews with web and/or user experience (UX) designers. The findings presented in this research show that while the Maltese Gen Z population is aware of Internet cookies, they do not perceive them as a threat to their data. The researcher also explored design techniques and principles which influence user decisions. The implications of these findings shed light on how habitual Internet cookie policies have become, and how users should pay more attention to how such technology impacts their decision to share their data. The findings of this study will contribute to expanding the literature in regard to the research subject. |
