| Abstract: | The complexity of decision-making within two unique generational cohorts, Generation Y (Gen Y) and Generation Z (Gen Z), is examined in this thesis. This study's main goal is to clarify how these two generations' decision-making differs from and overlaps with one another. In order to do this, participants from both Gen Y and Gen Z were specifically targeted in an online survey that was carefully created and disseminated over a number of social media sites. While Gen Z emerged as the participant generation with the largest percentage, both cohorts were fairly well-represented in the research. The findings of this study show an intriguing interaction between these two generations. The influence of social, technological, and economic variables that have influenced their worldviews were highlighted by the noticeable disparities in their decision-making mentalities, which can be attributed to this. Gen Y demonstrated distinctive decision-making styles that were based on their experiences and historical background, and they are frequently referred to as the digital pioneers. Gen Z, on the other hand, showed distinctive decision-making habits that were representative of their upbringing despite growing up in a society marked by rapid technological breakthroughs and a dynamic global terrain. It is similarly significant that this study emphasises the existence of shared perspectives between Gen Y and Gen Z notwithstanding these distinctions. Both generations show a tendency towards certain decision-making principles that cut across generational lines and emphasise shared values, issues, and aspirations. This thesis sheds light on the complex interaction of historical backdrop, societal influences, and personal experiences, contributing to a more thorough understanding of generational differences in decision-making. In the end, the study emphasises the significance of understanding the distinctions and similarities between Gen Y and Gen Z in the area of decision-making, which can guide more efficient communication and leadership strategies aimed at these diverse generations in today's complex world. |
