Abstract

The main aim of this journal is explained within the introduction, mainly that of reporting the medical activities from Malta, especially original contributions from the Maltese medical profession. Furthermore, a brief historical overview of the Maltese medical importance since the Knights of St. John, and throughout World War I and II is provided, focusing particularly on St. Luke`s Hospital Malta. 鈥淪t. Luke`s鈥� is staffed almost completely by graduates of the Royal University of Malta, and almost every member has pursued studies in Great Britain, the British Colleges of medicine, surgery, obstetrics and pathology. A remarkable section within the journal refers to a scientific publications list by graduates of the Maltese medical and dental schools since 1961. Of significant importance is the medical news section, as well as 鈥淥ur Colleagues Abroad鈥� section, the latter providing information regarding Maltese medical physicians living and working overseas. Noteworthy also are some advertisements promoting the names of certain pharmaceuticals at that time.
