| Abstract: | Copyright-related aspects of the Internet's functioning are studied in the monograph. The materials posted on the Internet that are subject to protection under copyright law are identified. Peculiarities of legal protection of certain categories of works available on the Internet are investigated. Substance and scope of copyrights in the context of the Internet are elucidated along with the main methods of protection thereof. The need for taking into account technological, socio-cultural and economic factors when choosing the optimal model of operation of the Internet from the point of view of observance of copyrights is substantiated. Comparative analysis of the rules contained in legal acts and court decisions in the sphere of copyright law of Ukraine, Russia, the U.S.A. and EU, as well as of norms contained in relevant international legal instruments. Proposals as to improvement of Ukraine's legislation relevant to protection of copyrights for works posted on the Internet are put forward. |
