Abstract

When I was approached by the editor of this journal to recommend an author to prepare an article about Monsignor Arturo Bonnici, I felt it was only fitting to write it myself. This decision is based on the fact that Professor Bonnici was the first President of the Malta Historical Society (M.H.S.) and I happen to be the actual President of the oldest society in Malta in the historical and cultural sector. The Malta Historical Society was founded in 1950 and its founder, Monsignor Professor Bonnici, was appointed as the first President, and occupied this post from April 1950 until December of 1978.
