| Abstract: | This chapter delves into the ethical implications of Virtual Reality (VR) design, especially in areas beyond leisure and entertainment such as professional development and treatment. The focus is on the critical intersection of technology and psychology in creating VR experiences. It argues that ethical considerations should not only guide the technical aspects but also take into account how the designed world affects users' physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. The chapter raises crucial questions about who sets the ethical guidelines, who decides the impact of technology on human behavior, and who bears the responsibility for potential negative outcomes. The aim is to promote a holistic approach to VR design that prioritizes the human element. |
