Abstract: This reflective article explores the Gospel reading from Mark 10:46-52, where Jesus heals the blind Bartimaeus, using it as a metaphor for overcoming spiritual blindness. Drawing on David Le Breton's Sensing the World to discuss the challenges of regaining sight, it emphasizes the refusal to see truth as a greater barrier than physical blindness. References include Archbishop Oscar Romero's insights on eyes that have cried, Richard Rohr's The Naked Now on perceptual shifts, St. Ignatius of Loyola's spiritual awakening, and G.K. Chesterton's Father Brown stories on the fear of truth. The piece calls for embracing a transformed vision of reality through Christ, casting off old identities for freedom. (30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle B readings: Jeremiah 31:7-9; Hebrews 5:1-6; Mark 10:46-52.)
