Abstract: Young adults often turn to escapism behaviours like social media engagement, gaming, and binge-watching. While escapism is often associated with maladaptive coping, it is also shown to provide psychological gratification. Conversely, mindfulness promotes emotional well-being through present-moment awareness. Although the study did not establish a direct link between escapism and mindfulness among its 62 participants, it did uncover a significant positive relationship between self-suppression and device attachment. Furthermore, gender variations in device attachment were noted. Further research is necessary to explore these relationships in greater depth and across diverse populations.
