| Abstract: | Background: The participation of nurse leaders in decision-making has been described as vital for healthcare organisations. However, their involvement in health policy-making is still suboptimal and their contribution is frequently unnoticed. This study aimed to understand the contribution of nurse leaders in decision and policy-making during the COVID-19 pandemic to inform future health crisis management. Methods: A qualitative study using a thematic approach was carried out together with the European Academy of Nursing Science between January 2022 to December 2023. ¹ó¾±²Ô»å¾±²Ô²µ²õ:³æ20;74³æ20;²Ô³Ü°ù²õ±ð³æ20;±ô±ð²¹»å±ð°ù²õ³æ20;´Ú°ù´Ç³¾³æ20;14³æ20;»å¾±´Ú´Ú±ð°ù±ð²Ô³Ù³æ20;·¡³Ü°ù´Ç±è±ð²¹²Ô³æ20;³¦´Ç³Ü²Ô³Ù°ù¾±±ð²õ³æ20;·É±ð°ù±ð³æ20;¾±²Ô³Ù±ð°ù±¹¾±±ð·É±ð»å.³æ20;¶Ù³Ü°ù¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;°ä°¿³Õ±õ¶Ù-19³æ20;±è²¹²Ô»å±ð³¾¾±³¦,³æ20;²Ô³Ü°ù²õ±ð³æ20;±ô±ð²¹»å±ð°ù²õ³æ20;³¦´Ç²Ô³Ù°ù¾±²ú³Ü³Ù±ð»å³æ20;³Ù´Ç³æ20;°ù±ð»å±ð²õ¾±²µ²Ô³æ20;²Ô³Ü°ù²õ¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;³¦²¹°ù±ð³æ20;»å±ð±ô¾±±¹±ð°ù²â,³æ20;´Ç±è±ð²Ô¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;°ä°¿³Õ±õ¶Ù³æ20;·É²¹°ù»å²õ,³æ20;»å±ð²õ¾±²µ²Ô¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;±¹²¹³¦³¦¾±²Ô²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô³æ20;³Ü²Ô¾±³Ù²õ,³æ20;²¹²Ô»å³æ20;°ù±ð²¹»å²¹±è³Ù¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;²Ô³Ü°ù²õ¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;²õ³Ù³Ü»å±ð²Ô³Ù²õ’³æ20;³¦³Ü°ù°ù¾±³¦³Ü±ô²¹.³æ20;±·³Ü°ù²õ±ð³æ20;±ô±ð²¹»å±ð°ù²õ³æ20;²¹»å»å°ù±ð²õ²õ±ð»å³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð³æ20;³Ü²Ô³¦±ð°ù³Ù²¹¾±²Ô³Ù²â³æ20;³Ù³ó°ù´Ç³Ü²µ³ó³æ20;²õ³ó²¹°ù±ð»å³æ20;»å±ð³¦¾±²õ¾±´Ç²Ô-³¾²¹°ì¾±²Ô²µ,³æ20;²ú²¹²õ±ð»å³æ20;´Ç²Ô³æ20;°ù±ð²¹±ô-³Ù¾±³¾±ð³æ20;°ì²Ô´Ç·É±ô±ð»å²µ±ð³æ20;²¹²Ô»å³æ20;²¹±¹²¹¾±±ô²¹²ú±ô±ð³æ20;±ð±¹¾±»å±ð²Ô³¦±ð.³æ20;³§±ð±ô´Ú-³¦´Ç²Ô´Ú¾±»å±ð²Ô³¦±ð,³æ20;±ð³¾±è²¹³Ù³ó²â,³æ20;²¹²Ô»å³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð³æ20;²¹²ú¾±±ô¾±³Ù²â³æ20;³Ù´Ç³æ20;²¹»å²¹±è³Ù³æ20;³Ù´Ç³æ20;²¹³æ20;³¦³ó²¹²Ô²µ¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;²õ¾±³Ù³Ü²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô³æ20;·É±ð°ù±ð³æ20;³¦´Ç²Ô²õ¾±»å±ð°ù±ð»å³æ20;±ð²õ²õ±ð²Ô³Ù¾±²¹±ô³æ20;³Ù´Ç³æ20;´Ú³Ü±ô´Ú¾±±ô³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð¾±°ù³æ20;±è°ù´Ç´Ú±ð²õ²õ¾±´Ç²Ô²¹±ô³æ20;»å³Ü³Ù¾±±ð²õ.³æ20;¶Ù³Ü±ð³æ20;³Ù´Ç³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð³æ20;±ô²¹³¦°ì³æ20;´Ç´Ú³æ20;±ð´Ú´Ú±ð³¦³Ù¾±±¹±ð³æ20;°ù±ð²¹»å²â-³¾²¹»å±ð³æ20;²õ´Ç±ô³Ü³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô²õ,³æ20;²Ô³Ü°ù²õ±ð³æ20;±ô±ð²¹»å±ð°ù²õ³æ20;·É±ð°ù±ð³æ20;³¦´Ç²Ô³¦±ð°ù²Ô±ð»å³æ20;²¹²ú´Ç³Ü³Ù³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð³æ20;³¦´Ç²Ô²õ±ð±ç³Ü±ð²Ô³¦±ð²õ³æ20;´Ç´Ú³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð¾±°ù³æ20;»å±ð³¦¾±²õ¾±´Ç²Ô²õ³æ20;³Ù³ó°ù´Ç³Ü²µ³ó´Ç³Ü³Ù³æ20;³Ù³ó±ð³æ20;±è²¹²Ô»å±ð³¾¾±³¦,³æ20;²µ±ð²Ô±ð°ù²¹³Ù¾±²Ô²µ³æ20;´Ú±ð±ð±ô¾±²Ô²µ²õ³æ20;´Ç´Ú³æ20;²¹²Ô³æ¾±±ð³Ù²â³æ20;²¹²Ô»å³æ20;³Ü²Ô³¦±ð°ù³Ù²¹¾±²Ô³Ù²â. Conclusion: The pandemic made the role and competence of nurse leaders more visible, highlighting the importance of their contribution to healthcare systems. Implications for nursing and nursing policy: The results of this study highlight the urgent need for healthcare systems to improve their preparedness for future health crises. Moreover, due to the fundamental contribution that nurse leaders had on the management of the pandemic, from clinical to educational settings, the position of nurse leaders in decision-making processes must be strengthened. |
