Careers education and guidance in Malta : issues and challenges
Collection home page
Statistics
This edited volume is made up of twenty chapters organised in four main sections. Part I provides a historical account of the origins and development of school careers services in Malta. Part II considers the relationship between education, vocational guidance and the world of work. Part III focuses on the practices of careers education and guidance, whilst Part IV draws on international perspectives in order to present models of good practice and to facilitate the development of new ideas and strategies. The chapters constitute a thorough introduction to the field of careers education and guidance in Malta. They bring together theoretical and practical perspectives and present the results of a number of empirical research projects that shed new light on the complex and problematic nature of the guidance field. As such, the volume should prove to be an invaluable and unique handbook for educational and careers guidance teachers, counsellors, and human resource developers. It should also be of interest to scholars interested in Malta's educational system, and in comparative education more generally.
