This industry was highlighted as it serves as one of the pillars for the success of the Maltese economy. Therefore, the overall aim of this dissertation is to explore and compare the traditional and digital aspects of data, such as surveys, questioners, interviews and big data, within the tourism industry. An exploratory and comparative research took place to gather insight on the different data collection methods, in which it resulted that both methods offer different and important perspectives to the tourism industry.
