Abstract: Believers who choose to initiate their children into the Catholic religion need to have the facility for their children to understand their religion properly. This can only be done by moving away from the situation we have today which focuses on memorization of Religious Knowledge in schools, towards Religious Education. This would be a move towards moral formation in the virtues, coupled with knowledge of the Catholic canon in the form of the Bible and Church documents, making our schools a place where students are prepared for Maclntyre's idea of an Educated Public. Taking Macintyre as a main point of reference, due to his works on Virtue Ethics and Narrative, I also attempt to suggest a situation where moral issues can be discussed within a context, through the use of literary texts. I shall be focusing on some examples from Shakespeare, though any literature in any language could be used.
