Abstract: This research study focused on the levels of discrimination and the anti-discriminatory organisations and structures found at the University of Malta. More importantly it also examined reporting procedures with regards to discrimination and the policies that are adopted within the university. Concepts like witnessing discrimination, anti- discriminatory policies, effects of discrimination, reporting and underreporting of discrimination among others were explored since they provide additional insight while discussing this particular subject matter. Data was gathered through two different means. An online questionnaire adopted from a previous study by the Carl Von Ossietzky University in Germany in 2009 was used to investigate whether students studying at the University of Malta experienced discrimination. Interviews were carried out with relevant student organisations and university bodies to examine if students reported discriminatory incidents to organisations found at the University of Malta and how complaints are handled. Throughout this research project it was noted that students experience a minimal level of discriminationn. However it was established that there is a need for more awareness on discrimination and its effects which could be fostered through human rights and equality organisations as means of promoting diversity and inclusiveness within the university and society as well.
