Abstract: The aim of the project is to interface a small driller with a computer and control the driller movement through the CPU. More specifically, the driller would be used to make holes in printed circuit boards (PCBs). Thus a n1echanical means to position the driller on the holes is necessary. This is the mechanical part of the project. The computer must have information where to guide the driller. Thus a computer program is created to get relevant information and transform this into driller movements. This is the software part of the project. An interface board between the computer and the driller is also necessary - this is the communication link between the two, without which both would remain separate entities. This is the hardware part of the project. Mechanical research and design, control theory, hardware and extensive computer programming techniques are all interleaved together to build the whole system.
