Abstract: The 3D Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Method is used to simulate the propagation of waves and solve electromagnetic boundary value problems. These simulations occur in many applications, such as the designing of wireless networks and the interaction of biological bodies with electromagnetic fields, such as humans and mobile phones. The problem with this method is that it is computational heavy and needs a considerable amount of memory space. By using a parallel implementation of the problem, the processing is divided by a number of machines and the memory of each is linked together. This thesis describes the FDTD EM Model and implements a parallel and an optimized parallel implementation. The results are then compared between them and with a serial implementation to examine the relative speed up and efficiency.
