| Abstract: | Music technology has made great leaps forward in the last decade. Digital techniques have found their way even into the world of music where analogue information is of paramount importance. Inexorably, more and more popular music is being translated into a series of digital commands. electronic musical instruments, is a means of allowing electronic musical instruments, and other related hardware, to communicate by means of a common standard of information interchange. The aim of this project is the design of a suitable MIDI interface to connect any MIDI compatible instrument to a personal computer. Furthermore, appropriate software will be developed enabling the musician to take full benefit of MIDI, making possible the recording of music in digital form where the latter can be stored on conventional computer storage media. The stored data can be sent to any MIDI device at any later time. The software program will be capable of importing and exporting standard MIDI files. This will permit the musician to view, edit or print his/her own music using software available on the market. |
