Abstract: The aim of this project was to develop a portable storage unit that gathers measurements in digital form, from depth and velocity transducer units at different programmable intervals, stores them on board for a maximum of 7 days and when instructed transfer this data to a personal computer so that they can be analysed. Velocity range to be stored is from 0.15 m/s to 4.00 m/s at a resolution of 0.02m/s. Depth range to be stored is from 0.05m to 1.5m at a resolution of 2mm. The time intervals range from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. It consists of four basic modules: the Z80A microprocessor as a control unit, the memory, parallel input and serial input output.
