| Abstract: | Where does Malta stand with regards to International level Sports Competitions? What exactly do we lack in Malta? Is it really talented children? Or perhaps qualified coaches and fully equipped facilities? All questions were answered through a questionnaire distributed to twenty-four affiliated associations. Answers reflect the immediate action local authorities should take in order to help sports at primary level. The solution is the building of fully equipped facilities designed specifically for children. "Then the provision of playing fields and sports installations should be an important target. They must be well equipped and adequately supervised. Of course, to do so properly means making a strong claim on land and funds as it calls for qualified manpower. " ( I.O.C. 1975 -Page 91 ). Funding difficulties are tangible although not insurmountable, but as opposed to land pm-poses is the matter still applicable? The solution may be Manoel Island. |
