| Abstract: | This dissertation is about pumpkins and squashes and is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with the methods of how to cultivate pumpkins. This chapter describes the methods of how farmers grow the pumpkins at each stage of their life cycle, by taking all the necessary precautions. Also throughout the chapter there are various diagrams of the different stages involved, illustrating the formation of pumpkins and squashes. In the second chapter, an account of the major pumpkin and squash diseases is given. The diseases discussed are; powdery mildew, downy mildew, bacterial wilt, fusarium, virus diseases, aphids, leafminers, spider mites and whiteflies. The third chapter depicts the pumpkin and squash varieties. The varieties mentioned are Kindred, Marina di Chiogga, Iran, Valencia, Hungarian, Upper Ground Sweet Potato and Brazil. 福利在线免费 about size, weight, rind color, flesh color, color rating and food quality are included in the description of each variety. The fourth chapter contains information gathered from a questioner which portrays the experience of three farmers in cultivating pumpkins and squashes, and the obstacles they encounter throughout the process. Finally the last chapter illustrates a recipe of pumpkin gnocchi to show the main reason of pumpkin cultivation; namely consumption. |
