Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Technology (Honours)
The BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Technology degree is targeted for individuals interested in pharmaceutical processes. The course is a three-year full-time course leading to a level 6 degree. Career opportunities for pharmaceutical technologists include in Quality Assurance departments, Quality Control laboratories, production and partial manufacturing facilities, regulatory affairs, medicines wholesale and distribution, medical representation and in pharmaceutical administration.
Pharmaceutical technologists have the opportunity to further their studies by enrolling for the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Sciences.

Master of Pharmacy for February intake
The course leading to a degree in pharmacy has been restructured according to a two-cycle education system, whereby graduates in pharmacy will be awarded a Master of Pharmacy degree after completing the two cycles.
The courses will be offered as follows:
Persons in possession of these two degrees would be eligible for a warrant to practise pharmacy in Malta and in the EU.

Master of Science in Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Sciences (M.Sc. Pharm.) part-time day
The Master of Science in Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Sciences offered by the Department of Pharmacy is targeted at pharmaceutical technologists, pharmacists and individuals with a relevant scientific background. The Level 7 programme is based over 6 semesters and focuses on the development of skills related to data handling and scientific writing amongst others. The Master degree offers the opportunity to specialise in one of the offered areas related to pharmaceutical and regulatory sciences.

Master in Advanced Clinical Pharmacy (M.ACP) - Level 7
The Department of Pharmacy of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta is a leader in Europe for patient-focused curricula. The programme, which is offered in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), USA, focuses on developing advanced clinical pharmacy skills and perspectives on patient safety with regards to development and use of innovative drugs.
The level 7 programme is based over 3 semesters. The course is built on a hybrid learning model that provides learning through an online platform, live tutorials for patient case discussions, journal clubs and seminars. The practical placements include rotations undertaken in different pharmaceutical scenarios. Teaching faculty includes leading, internationally recognised staff from the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Malta and the UIC College of Pharmacy.
The programme is targeted at pharmacists working in hospitals, primary care, community pharmacy, pharmacovigilance and pharmacy administration who would like to advance their careers by enhancing professional patient-focused activities.
Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) - Level 8 professional doctorate
The Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm D.) course is offered by the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Malta, Malta, in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois, USA (UIC). This course is unique in that it combines the development and application of advanced clinical pharmacy skills with contextual research. Taught study-units are delivered jointly by both Universities.

The programme is targeted at pharmacists who would like to advance their careers by enhancing professional clinical practice with a research perspective. It offers a level 8 doctorate degree in clinical pharmacy and is suitable for pharmacists working in hospitals, primary-care or community pharmacy and pharmacy administration settings. The programme is based over three years of study covering a total of 9 semesters.
The doctorate programme empowers pharmacists practising in professional areas to assume leadership roles that will drive policies and developments in clinical practice and service that draws on scientific, evidence-based research.
The Department also offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in areas of interest to the Department including practice research, quality systems, clinical analysis, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical chemistry and drug design.
