The Sword & Fantasy Short Film Festival celebrates fantasy cinema as a wonderful collection of magical tales unfolds onscreen, with exclusive one night screenings at Villa Bologna. Each story is beautifully brought to life and combines humour, intrigue, magic and amazing fantasy creatures. The short film festival is hosted by Adam Peter Fretwell,
Mr Fretwell said: 'These short films capture memorable scenes of knights with crystal-like swords saving damsels in distress, dastardly villains using their black cauldrons to rule the world and dragons setting everything ablaze establishing their reign over the kingdom.' Mr Fretwell added: 'If in the 1980's, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride provided pure escapism, film events like Sword and Fantasy are reviving the genre by giving the audience a gateway into imaginary realms with the best fantasy shorts coming from across a wide range of genres from animation, drama and silent.'
Preceding the short film screenings there will be a short talk by Adam Peter Fretwell on how swords have been portrayed in fantasy film, TV series’ versus actual swordplay.
The Sword and Fantasy Short Film Festival is a unique, alternative film distribution, exhibition platform as these shorts are not screened in local cinemas or TV. During the film event, the audience will be given the opportunity to vote for the best film. We will also be giving out free prizes! Medieval or fantasy costumes are encouraged but not a must. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Entrance is 10 euros and includes wine and canapés including free popcorn. The venue will be heated.
For bookings send an email to euromediaforum@gmail.com or text to +356 99454066.
