Summer is all about having fun, but how about having fun responsibly? If we’re at the beach, at a feast, walking or jogging along the promenade or even hiking in our beautiful countryside, we need to care for our environment.
What does this mean?
We have to be conscious of our waste. When you purchase an item think: Is this item something you really need? Can I reuse it? Can I recycle it? We need to start taking our impact upon the planet seriously. It’s not just about leaving the trash outside our door and forgetting it once the truck comes round to pick it up.
What can you do?
- Do not buy more than you need.
- Buy item that can be recycled or reused. You can turn this into a fun activity, so that all the family can hunt through the aisles at the supermarket looking for such products.
- At the beach? Think ahead – prepare a few bags so that you can easily throw your waste away into them to be disposed of later.
Besides, you’ll be setting the perfect example for others to follow. By starting this habit in summer it will be easier for you to maintain such a lifestyle once you’re back to the winter routine. So look to reduce your waste in general together with the rest of the family.
