On Thursday, 14 December, Inizjamed will be organising its twentieth Open Mic. We are now past our adolescence, however we still want to dream, we still want to be free. As a matter of fact, we are going to a place which is a dream that became reality. Like poetry, Jacob’s Brew is the biggest of examples that when your heart is broken in two, rather than having no more heart beats, you end up with two simultaneous beats, and while at it think of others.

The special guest will be the poet Norbert Bugeja.
Bugeja published four collections of poetry, the most recent one being ‘Nartiċi’. The previous three are ‘South of the Kasbah’, ‘Bliet’ and ‘Stay Fairy Tale Stay’. He read his verses in various international literary festivals, and also was part of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival, both as a poet and as an interviewer, where in the last two editions he interviewed the two internationally acclaimed writers Elias Khoury and Mourid Barghouti.

In between Norbert Bugeja’s performance, in the spirit of our Open Mic, you are invited to read a poem, a story, do any kind of stand-up, sing an original song, or anything else you deem fit to express yourself.
Any dialect, any language, is more than welcome, actually the more the merrier.

Many of you have been attending this Open Mic through the whole year. It is you who make the Open Mic. So, it would be ideal than on the last edition for the year, we celebrate the year we have just spent together.
