In the GMO debate, both pro and anti-camps claim science is on their side. Who’s right?
Nowadays it’s almost impossible to read the news(feed) without getting bombarded with updates on food production. Truth is that food is perceived to becoming a scary commodity, as lots of alarming mythologies are out there. For consumers, it’s an immensely challenging task to smartly navigate through fake-news, science or ‘guru’ advice and marketing slogans. For food producers, it’s daunting to create innovative foods, use certain ingredients and purchase the ‘right’ raw materials. GMO, pesticides, organic farming and food engineering are just some of the words that can keep anyone up at night.
With the Food Evolution movie as an introduction, followed by an expert panel discussion, the aim is to help the public make informed choices about food with the help of science-based evidence.
The documentary Food Evolution shows how misinformation, confusion and fear can easily overwhelm objective analysis.
A panel of experts will discuss the topics behind the movie and the concerns of consumers after the film.
This panel discussion will take place right after the documentary that is scheduled to start at 19:30 on Wednesday, 7 February in the cinema room of Spazju Kreattiv.
Some of the science covered will include genetics, nutrition, agriculture and pesticides and will be presented by experts in these particular fields.
