The summer holidays are in full swing, and Esplora Interactive Science Centre is once again welcoming children and families for a season of exciting, science-filled experiences. The Esplora Summer Programme 2025 offers a wide range of inspirational and engaging activities in a fully air-conditioned setting—ideal for learning and fun during the warmer months.
Running from 1 July to 28 September, the programme includes interactive science shows, hands-on workshops, more than 200 exhibits, and captivating planetarium experiences, all designed to spark curiosity and ignite imagination.
This year’s programme features a rotating thematic structure, with a new central theme introduced every few weeks. Each theme brings with it fresh content and perspectives, encouraging repeat visits and continuous discovery. Whether exploring the science behind sport, food, traditional Maltese festivities, the natural world, or space exploration, visitors will be immersed in hands-on learning that is both fun and educational.
The press launch was opened by Ms Mary Anne Cauchi, recently appointed Senior Director of Esplora, who welcomed attendees and spoke about the centre’s continued mission to make science accessible and engaging for all.
“This year’s Summer Programme is designed to inspire wonder and exploration,†Ms Cauchi said. “It is particularly meaningful for me to launch this initiative in my new role. I look forward to leading Esplora as we continue to create meaningful science learning opportunities that are innovative, inclusive, and fun for everyone who walks through our doors.â€
Following the opening, Kiki Mizzi, Head of the Education Department at Esplora, gave a brief overview of the programme and delivered a short presentation, highlighting this year’s five thematic strands and the age-specific content created for children aged 2 to 14.
The event was formally closed by the Hon. Keith Azzopardi Tanti, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, who praised Esplora’s role in nurturing a scientifically curious society and commended the team’s dedication to informal science learning.
The activities in this year’s programme cater to different age groups and learning levels, offering a variety of shows and workshops that empower children to explore, think, and imagine through play and discovery.
