RIDT, the Research Trust of the University of Malta, is proud to present Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons as a fund raising concert for brain research. This event supports Brain Awareness Week which is being held between 14 and 20 March and is run by the Brain Network Team in collaboration with the Malta Neuroscience Network and RIDT.
This fund raising concert features international acclaimed Maltese violinist Carmine Lauri who, together with a 14-piece string ensemble made up of top musicians in Malta, will be under the direction of Michael Laus. The concert will be held on Easter Sunday, 27 March 2016, at St Publius Church in Floriana, at 19:30.
Undoubtedly, The Four Seasons is Antonio Vivaldi’s most popular work. Consisting of four violin concertos, each gives a musical expression to a season of the year. Unusually for the time, Vivaldi published the concerti with accompanying poems (possibly written by Vivaldi himself) that elucidated what it was about those seasons that his music was intended to evoke.
The concert is supported by the ADRC Trust and APS Bank. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra has also supported this event by lending the harpsichord to be used during the concert. All proceeds will go towards brain research at the University of Malta.
Entrance tickets are at €60, €30 and €25 (partially restricted view). Booking from St James Cavalier on tel +356 21223200 or .
