'What I tell you three times is true'
The Faculty of Arts of the University of Malta is proud to announce the premiere screening of 'Daniel', 'Ħuduni d-Dar!' ('Take Me Home!') and 'Il-Ħadd' ('Sunday'), three short films made by the students of the M.A. in Film Studies.
The films will be screened for the first time in Malta on Sunday 8 May, at the Auditorium, Old University Building, Valletta Campus, St Paul Street, Valletta at 19:00.
These productions, which constitute the centre-piece of the M.A. in Film Studies, have been made by the students themselves under the supervision of award-winning directors Antonio Piazza, Fabio Grassadonia, and Scott Graham as well as the acclaimed director of photography Francesco Di Giacomo.
The screening of the films will be preceded by short presentations from the students and directors.
'DANIEL': a young man returns home from a late night out. Sleepless, he will walk the streets of Birgu on his way to work. As night turns to day, his past relationship with an older man returns to haunt him. The memory of lost love gives way to the quest for identity on the cusp between dream and reality.
'ĦUDUNI D-DAR!' ('TAKE ME HOME!'): why is she here? She wants to go home. Where is her family? Joyce tells Vitorin this is her home. But it doesn’t feel like it. Vitorin cannot remember. Living with dementia is confusing for her, and taxing for her daughter.
'IL-ĦADD' ('SUNDAY'): returning from a weekend conference in Malta, a Gozitan dentist recounts his trip to his wife. His memories reveal his flexibility with the truth.
Refreshments will be served after the screening. This will give the public the opportunity to meet with the students, their supervisors and their coordinator over a glass of wine.
The general public is cordially invited to the screening.
Entrance is free. Reservation is not mandatory but seating is limited, so if you would like to reserve a seat, please contact Ms Yanica Cassar on +356 2340 2309 or by email.
