Supervision of Dissertations in the Social Sciences and Humanities, a training workshop for supervisors by Prof. Debbie Epstein and Dr Maureen Cole will be held on Monday, 12 February 2018 from 09:00 to 15:30.

The maximum number of participants is 25. Applicants will be accepted on a first come first served basis. This will be an interactive workshop to explore different aspects of supervision of dissertations in social sciences and humanities at different levels - undergraduate, masters and doctoral.
During the workshop the following questions will be addressed:
- appropriate expectations of supervisors and students at different stages of university education
- helping students to find appropriate research topics/questions/hypotheses
- keeping an eye on ethics
- the writing process.
Prof. Debbie Epstein is a Professor of Cultural Studies in Education at the University of Roehampton. She is an experienced and successful supervisor of dissertations at all levels. She has supervised 23 doctoral theses to completion and all of her students have passed with either minor or no revisions required.
Dr Maureen Cole is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work, who served as Head of the Department of Social Policy and Social Work and as founding Dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing at the University of Malta. Maureen鈥檚 main research focus is the practice and experience of social work supervision. She has successfully supervised students at undergraduate, master and doctoral levels.
