21 March marks the anniversary of Chinua Achebe's death. He wrote both in Urdu and English in order to spread literature in Western countries as well as in his own country. DESA is partnering up with FACES, a Maltese organisation that runs an orphanage in Kenya. The children are well-read and are continuously looking for more books to read. DESA will be honouring Achebe's life and literary mission by donating new or good quality second-hand books to the orphanage.
You are invited to join in this initiative that will be held from 12 to 15 March between 11:00 and 15:00. Bring along books you are ready to part with for this great cause. The DESA office is located at no. 3 (next to Agenda) University House, University of Malta Msida Campus.
New or second hand will be accepted. Books with yellowing pages will not be accepted. Children's books and young adult books are ideal as well as Sci-fi novels. DESA intends to collect as many books as possible before 21 March.
