The next public lecture, organised by the Research and Prevention Unit of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation in conjunction with the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, is entitled “Dementia”.
It will be delivered by Professor Charles Scerri at 18:00 on Tuesday 8 May 2018 at Sala Antoine de Paule at San Anton Palace.
Professor Charles Scerri Ph.D. is a graduate from the University of Dundee in Scotland and lectures neuropharmacology and dementia studies at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta. He is also Chair of the Malta Dementia Society, Vice-Chair of Alzheimer Europe as well as the National Focal Point on Dementia in Malta.
One of the most important challenges facing the Maltese population is the increasing number of individuals with dementia with a figure expected to exceed three percent of the general population by the year 2050.
This presentation aims to give an overview of how dementia is impacting different sectors of Maltese society and the challenges being faced in the diverse fields of dementia management and care.
The lecture will be preceded by a welcome coffee from 17:30.
