The opening of the photographic exhibition 'Matiz ~ Gabo: Los cronistas de Macondo' will be held on Thursday 16 August at the University of Malta Valletta Campus.
The Exhibition includes photos by the late Colombian photographer Leo Matiz inspired by the masterpiece of Colombian writer and Nobel laureate Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez, the novel Cien Años de Soledad (1967, One Hundred Years of Solitude).
This exhibition opening will also include a short talk on Gabo, Matiz and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Anita Zerafa a visiting lecturer of the Spanish and Latin American Studies of the University of Malta. The opening will include readings of excerpts of Cien Años de Soledad in Spanish and also in Maltese. The translations were prepared by Maltese writer Jean Paul Borg.
It is also possible to view the exhibition in the morning of 17 and 20 August at the Valletta Campus. On 23 to 25 August the exhibition will be he hosted in this year’s edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival (organised by Inizjamed) at Fort Manoel, Gzira.
The exhibition is being hosted in collaboration with the Embassy of Colombia in Italy, the Honorary Consulate of Colombia in Malta, the Leo Matiz Foundation and Inizjamed.
Entrance is free and the dress code is casual.
