Title: Online information session re: MSc in Telecommunications Engineering
Date: 13 May 2020
Time: Noon
We would like to bring to your attention the starting October 2020.
The field of engineering is fast changing and while the undergraduate programmes provide a broad knowledge, specialisation is important to progress in today鈥檚 competitive industry. The field of Telecommunication Engineering is vast and is central to most current technologies . Big Data, Internet of Things, Smart Cities, Wearables, Self-driving vehicles, Machine-to-Machine communication, and many other applications, cannot exist without a sound telecommunications infrastructure. Moreover, sound knowledge in telecommunications allows engineers to develop systems that maximise the use of the communications channels leading to better overall performance, increasing transmission efficiency leading to more sustainable telecommunication services. Therefore for a country to progress, there is a need for well trained telecommunications engineers and demand is high. The current trend in industry is that professionals with a Masters degree have access to positions with greater responsibilities, translating  into better salaries.
During your undergraduate degree you touched on the basics of telecommunication systems and networks. The MSc programme will consolidate these concepts and equip the students with skills to analyse, design, maintain and develop modern telecommunication systems such as 5G, 6G, next generation WiF, LiFi, and other advanced optical and broadband communications systems.
